Dearmoring is somatic bodywork that releases the physical and energetic armor your body has built up from trauma, stress, and pain. The stress has settled into your shoulders, the words you swallowed instead of speaking, the pleasure you postponed. Your body has been keeping score, holding onto experiences that never got their full expression. Dearmoring has been practiced in Europe for 30 years and is based on working with the "pain body" where unprocessed experiences are actually stored.
-
Massage works with muscular tension. Energy work like Reiki addresses flow and blockages. Therapy works with your mind and story. Dearmoring works directly with your pain body—the place where trauma is stored in your tissues, nervous system, and energetic field.
-
No. While both involve energy work and touch, Reiki focuses on channeling healing energy and balancing your energy field. Dearmoring works specifically with releasing armor—the physical and energetic tension your body built to protect you but no longer needs. The goal is active release, not just flow.
-
Therapy helps you understand your trauma mentally and emotionally. Dearmoring releases it from where it's physically stored. You can talk about what happened for years and still have your body react like the threat is current—tight jaw, shallow breathing, shutdown during intimacy. This work addresses the somatic piece that talk therapy can't reach.

Every session is different because your body leads. You might cry, shake, scream, laugh, feel intense sensation, or experience quiet shifts. Some people have dramatic releases (rage, grief pouring out). Others feel subtle unwinding. There's no "right" way to do this. Whatever your body needs to express is welcome—including nothing at all if that's where you are.
-
Sessions are 2-2.5 hours.
-
It depends on what you're working with and how your body responds. Some people experience significant shifts in one session. Others benefit from a series over time to work with multiple layers of armor. There's no set number—we'll talk about what makes sense for you during your consultation.
-
No, but it can involve sexual healing. Dearmoring releases whatever your body is holding—sometimes that's grief or rage, sometimes it's locked-away pleasure or sensation. If you've experienced sexual trauma, this work can help you reclaim your capacity for pleasure and feel safe in your body. Not every session involves sexual energy, nothing sexual happens between us.
-
That's exactly what this work is for. Before we begin, I give you full permission; crying, screaming, shaking, rage—all of it is welcome. I'm trained to hold space for whatever needs to be released, and creating a safe space for big emotions is part of how I work. You won't be too much.
-
Sometimes the most profound releases are quiet. Your body might be doing deep work that doesn't look dramatic from the outside—rewiring your nervous system, softening chronic tension, creating new pathways. And sometimes your body just isn't ready to let go yet, which is also okay. We work at your pace, not mine.
-
Come as you are. Avoid heavy meals right before (you'll be lying down for extended periods). Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. Mentally, just show up willing to let your body speak—you don't need to have it all figured out before we start.
-
Comfortable clothing you can move and breathe in—something like loose pants/shorts and a t-shirt or tank top. No underwire bras, tight waistbands, or anything constricting. You'll stay clothed throughout the session.
-
Yes. I'm trained in creating both physical and emotional safety for this work. Before we begin, we establish boundaries and consent. You're in control—you can ask me to stop, slow down, or adjust anything at any point. I work with your nervous system, not against it, which means we only go as deep as your body is ready for.
-
This work is right for you if you're emotionally willing to explore deep feelings, comfortable with consensual touch, and willing to feel uncomfortable sensations in a supported space. It's NOT right if you're in acute mental health crisis. Book a free consultation and we'll talk through whether this is a good fit for where you are right now.

I trained with leading dearmoring practitioners in the lineage of Wilhelm Reich's somatic work:
Somagetic Practitioner Training with Nathan Marcuzzi (Mexico, February 2024)
Dearmoring Arts Practitioner Training with De'an Matuka, Susanna Beatrice, and Matt Schwenteck (Italy, June 2025)
I've been practicing this work on myself since 2020 and facilitating sessions for others since 2022.

Single sessions are $250. I also offer a three-session series for $700 and a six-session journey for $1,350. All pricing includes the full 2-2.5-hour session (conversation, hands-on work, and integration time).

No. This is private-pay only.

We meet in-person at my practice just outside of Boone, NC, or I can come to your location.
-
This work involves intentional, consensual touch. If you're not ready for that, I also offer non-touch energy work that honors your boundaries while still supporting your body's wisdom.
-
It's not—I trained directly with European practitioners who've been doing this work for decades. The difference is availability. In Europe, dearmoring is as common as massage or Reiki. In the US, there are only a handful of trained practitioners. You're getting the same established practice that's been trusted in Europe for 30 years.
